11 Tips And Protocols When
Participating In Teleseminars

(Please read and or review prior to the
teleseminar session(s)

1. Schedule one full hour of uninterrupted time to participate in the call. You'll be much more 'present' if your mind and body can relax and focus.

2. Create a special place for yourself, a favorite chair, a beverage, a blanket, whatever will make you comfortable.   (This is not the time to do household chores or clean off your desk.)

3. Use your telephone mute button when available. Otherwise background noises may come through.  Close the door if possible or post-a-sign.  Ask not to be disturbed during this time.

4. If you have a "call-waiting" feature on your line, please disable it before dialing into the call by dialing *70. After you hang up, your call-waiting feature automatically resumes.

5. Please DO NOT USE SPEAKERPHONES.   They do not provide the clarity and quality needed in a conference situation.

6. Your facilitator may encourage you to share or respond throughout the call. Your active participation is important.   We all learn from each other's questions, concerns and answers.   Since we cannot see each and have visual "clues", please wait with your comments until you've been prompted with a question, or asked by the facilitator for invited comments.

When you share, please say, "Eln, this is Kelly."  Then we all know who is speaking.

The instructor will respond by saying, "Yes Kelly, go ahead."   Then respond. We request that you keep comments brief, to the point, constructive and positive.  (We want to allow time for the others to be included)  Your facilitator will create a safe environment and keep an interesting pace during the program.

7. Audio taping is not permitted in our teleclasses.  Recordings of each session will be available for you to review or when you may miss a session.  If you anticipate that you will miss more than one session of a multi-session class, it may be in your best interest to reschedule for another time.  Talk with Eln, in advance.

8. Cordless telephones and headsets work fine in a teleclass. Occasionally reoccurring static is heard.  When that happens, we will need to problem-solve the source of the static.

9. Please minimize cross talk between participants, since it interrupts the facilitator and the flow of the class.  We do have a finite amount of time to complete the session.

10. Call-in precisely at the scheduled time. If you call too early, the phone will ring until a second person calls, which then opens up the line. If you must leave the class early, please notify the facilitator ahead of time that this will be occurring.   Simply hanging up is not courteous, and is equivalent to walking out of the class.

If you are not available for a session of an ongoing class then please email the entire group that you will not be present that week.

11. In some situations and classes, email addresses will be shared after the first class with the understanding that they be used ONLY for purposes related to the class.  You will be told ahead of time when emails will be shared.  No solicitation is allowed for any reason.
